About
About Kevin
Kevin Trujillo writes about relationships, family, technology, and the unexpected ways life refuses to follow the script.
His novels The Second Chair and Permission to Laugh explore artificial intelligence from a distinctly human perspective—with humor, romance, warmth, and a persistent question at their heart: what happens when something artificial begins to feel remarkably real?
His writing moves between fiction about human connection and artificial intelligence and nonfiction rooted in remarkable real-life events, usually with a little humor somewhere along the way.
He also publishes under other pen names, exploring different genres, voices, and perspectives. Some stories are best told under a different name. After all, a little mystery never hurt a good book.
He lives on Puget Sound in Washington State and escapes to the South of France whenever Mother Nature cooperates.
A Note on the Cover Art
Because apparently, even book covers have become controversial.
The cover artwork for The Second Chair and Permission to Laugh was created with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
There. I've said it. I feel better already.
The ideas, artistic direction, endless adjustments, occasional disagreements, and final decisions were mine. AI supplied the artistic tools, along with an apparently inexhaustible willingness to make one more adjustment.
And then another.
And, inevitably, just one more.
I've always believed that creativity is less about the tools in your hands than the imagination between your ears. Some artists use brushes. Others use cameras, computers, or software. I happen to have enlisted a rather talented collection of algorithms.
The result is artwork that reflects how I imagined these stories should look.
Whether you love the covers or not, I hope you'll judge the books by what happens after you open them.
The cover may be artificial. The laughter isn't.
